The Anambra State Government has announced that all schools in the state will observe a holiday on Tuesday, Oct. 7, in celebration of teachers and their contributions to education.
The state Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, made this known in a statement on Monday in Awka.
She explained that since the 2025 World Teachers’ Day, marked globally on Oct. 5, fell on a Sunday, Gov. Chukwuma Soludo approved Tuesday as a substitute holiday to recognise and celebrate teachers across the state.
According to her, the celebration would also feature a mega endorsement march by the Solution Parents League to appreciate the governor’s reforms in the education sector.
Chuma-Udeh said that members of the Association of Private School Owners would participate in the event alongside teachers and parents.
She added that all stakeholders — teachers, parents, and school proprietors — are expected to converge at the Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, by 8:00 a.m. for the celebration in honour of educators who continue to shape the state’s future through their service.
