The Lagos State Police Command says it has opened investigations into two separate incidents involving its officers the tear-gassing of students in Alakuko and an accident in Ikorodu that left two people injured.
The command made this known in a statement posted on its official X handle, @LagosPoliceNG, on Friday.
According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Olohundare Jimoh, has directed the Deputy Commissioner in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to carry out a detailed probe into both matters.
Jimoh strongly condemned the unprofessional behaviour displayed in the Alakuko video, warning that misuse of power and acts of overzealousness would not be condoned in the command.
On the Ikorodu accident, the commissioner called on representatives of the victims to come forward with relevant information to aid investigations and ensure that justice is served.
The police command further assured the public that due process would be strictly observed and that any officer found guilty of misconduct would face disciplinary measures.
It reiterated its commitment to accountability and professionalism, while appealing to residents to remain calm as investigations continue.
