A 27-year-old woman, Funsho Oluwatosin, was on Friday arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly receiving stolen property.
Oluwatosin, whose address was not provided, is facing a charge of receiving stolen property, to which she pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, Insp Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendant and others at large allegedly committed the offence on April 31 at Superlian hostel, Iworoko road in Ado-Ekiti.
He alleged that the defendant received a phone valued at N145,000, power bank valued at N75,000, along with N260,000 cash from one Saliu Muhammed, believed to belong to one Fadahunsi Rotimi.
Oriyomi said that the offence contravened Section 428 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
He urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him assemble his witnesses.
Counsel to the defendant, Mr Olayinka Adelusi, urged the court to grant the defendant bail with a promise that she would not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Abayomi Adeosun, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He adjourned the case until Oct. 20 for hearing.
