The authorities of Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic, Aba, have announced the end of issuing Statements of Results as well as the practice of selling handouts to students.
According to the Rector, Dr. Christopher Okoro, the move is aimed at curbing exploitation of students while improving institutional processes.
The institution, which previously operated as Abia State Polytechnic, Aba, has now embraced reforms to promote transparency and efficiency.
Okoro made this known when the new Executive of the Correspondents Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Abia Council, paid him a courtesy visit in his office on Wednesday.
The NUJ Correspondents Chapel Chairman, Mr. Steve Oko, described Okoro as a reform-driven administrator who had repositioned the polytechnic within a short period.
He advised the rector to keep up the progress, sustain harmony with staff and management, and expand academic programmes to meet societal demands.
Oko pledged that the chapel would continue to highlight the achievements of the polytechnic in the media while cautioning the rector to maintain ties only with trained professionals in journalism.
