American government renews commitment to assist Nigerians studying in the U.S.

The United States Government has reiterated its readiness to assist Nigerian students, innovators, and aspiring leaders who wish to pursue academic opportunities in American institutions.

This assurance was given by Brian Neubert, Public Diplomacy Officer at the U.S. Embassy, during the 2025 EducationUSA Fair held on Monday in Abuja under the theme: “Empowering Futures, Discover American Excellence in Education and Innovation.”

The annual EducationUSA fairs are organised across several countries to link prospective students with U.S. colleges and universities.

According to organisers, the platform enables students, parents, and academic advisers to interact directly with representatives of American institutions, gaining insight into admission processes, available programmes, scholarships, and financial aid.

Neubert said the United States values its partnership with Nigeria in nurturing the next generation of leaders and innovators.

He disclosed that 28 American universities and colleges participated in this year’s fair with the goal of attracting more Nigerian students to their campuses.

He also explained that EducationUSA provides free counselling services to guide applicants through every stage of the admission process.

Neubert further urged participants to carefully follow visa regulations and make the most of their study opportunities when admitted.

He added that students should embrace their time abroad, acquire knowledge and experiences, and later apply them in building Nigeria’s future.

He encouraged them to see themselves as part of a growing network of Nigerians who have excelled in U.S. institutions and gone on to make global impact.
