Military air operations claim 25 terrorist fighters in Northeast

Over 25 terrorists have been neutralised in fresh Nigerian Air Force (NAF) air raids carried out around Bula in Yobe State and the Banki axis of Borno.

The disclosure was made in a statement on Saturday by NAF’s Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame.

He explained that the coordinated operation on Sept. 18 was launched based on intelligence shared by ground troops.

According to Ejodame, a combination of Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) platforms and strike aircraft monitored the insurgents’ movement and spotted several clusters north of Banki.

Real-time intelligence was relayed to troops on the ground, allowing seamless coordination of the joint mission.

“The strike aircraft engaged the terrorists in three successive precision strikes on their movement routes and assembly areas, effectively neutralising more than 25 fighters.

“Post-strike surveillance confirmed ground forces remained in defensive positions, with no further threats observed,” he added.

He stressed that the successful strikes highlight NAF’s resolve to back up ground forces, deny terrorists room for manoeuvre, and sustain pressure to restore lasting peace in Nigeria’s North-East.
