Methodist Prelate Commends Gov Mbah’s Development Strides in Enugu

The Prelate of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, His Eminence Dr. Oliver Aba, has praised Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah for what he described as remarkable achievements in security and infrastructure within a short period of his administration.

Dr. Aba gave the commendation on Sunday during the 50th Anniversary celebration and Thanksgiving service of the Enugu Methodist Archdiocese, which also featured the conferment of awards.

Highlighting the state’s new security system, the cleric said he was impressed by the advanced surveillance technology installed at the Command and Control Center. “From the facility, I was able to view virtually every part of Enugu State within minutes, including the Archbishop’s residence. That is a demonstration of good governance,” he noted.

He also described the recently commissioned International Conference Center in Enugu as a world-class facility, urging other state governments to emulate Governor Mbah’s development-focused leadership.

In his sermon, themed “He Will Rise Again,” Dr. Aba encouraged Nigerians to remain steadfast in faith, turn away from wrongdoing, and trust that the nation would recover and flourish.

The Prelate also congratulated Chief Onyemuche Nnamani, Secretary of the Police Service Commission, and Chief Nana Ogbodo, Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission, who were invested as Knights of John Wesley (KJW) for their service to the church and society.

Representing the governor at the event, Deputy Governor Ifeanyi Ossai commended the Methodist Church for its role in combating rising cultism and ritual practices among youths in the South East, which he described as alien to Igbo culture. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to tackling crime with modern technology and praised the church for its longstanding investment in education.

“The industries thriving across the South East today are products of the solid educational foundation laid decades ago,” Governor Mbah stated, pledging continued partnership with the church, especially in education and youth development.

Earlier, the Archbishop of Enugu Archdiocese, Most Rev. Christopher Edeh, expressed gratitude to the Prelate for his apostolic visit. He reaffirmed the church’s resolve to intensify its evangelism and campaign against cultism, locally known as Okeite.

The newly invested knights, Nnamani and Ogbodo, pledged to use their positions to serve God and humanity.

The celebration also featured the unveiling of a book titled “History and Development of Methodism in Enugu Diocese/Archdiocese: 1975–2025,” authored by Dr. Phillemon Agu.
