KTSG confirms killing of 7 persons by bandits in Dandume LG

The Katsina State Government has confirmed that seven people were killed when armed bandits attacked Magajin-Wando village in Dandume Local Government Area.

Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr. Nasir Mu’azu, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday in Katsina.

He explained that the incident occurred around 11 p.m. on Friday when bandits invaded the community. “Seven lives were lost in the attack. Thanks to the swift and courageous intervention of the Community Watch Corps (CWC), the assault was repelled, preventing an even more devastating outcome,” he said.

According to him, some victims who sustained injuries were evacuated for medical attention but came under ambush by the same group of bandits who had split into smaller units.

“In the exchange of gunfire, their vehicle was riddled with bullets, but the Community Watch Corps fought bravely and managed to escape back to safety. Unfortunately, their vehicle was burnt during the attack,” Mu’azu added.

He said preliminary findings suggested the ambush was a revenge attack by the same criminal gang, which had suffered heavy losses during earlier confrontations in the area.

The commissioner praised the CWC for their courage and sacrifice, describing their actions as vital to protecting vulnerable communities under extremely dangerous conditions.

“We extend our deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and wish the injured a speedy recovery,” he said.

Mu’azu reaffirmed the government’s commitment to intensifying security operations across Katsina State, noting that it continues to work closely with the military, police, and other security agencies to dismantle the networks behind such attacks.

He urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly share useful intelligence with security agencies to support ongoing operations.

“With the resilience of our people and the determination of our security forces, we will defeat these enemies of peace and restore lasting security in Katsina State,” he declared.
