Police charge man, 25, over alleged N200,000 aluminium theft

The Lagos State Police on Monday arraigned 25-year-old Toheeb Musbau before the Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing aluminium windows valued at N200,000.

Musbau, whose residential address was not disclosed, faced charges of felony and stealing. He, however, pleaded not guilty to the allegations.

The prosecutor, Inspector Edet Ekpo, informed the court that the incident occurred on August 15 at about 2:00 p.m. on Amunipe Street, Ibiye, Badagry, Lagos.

Ekpo alleged that Musbau, alongside accomplices still at large, conspired to steal the aluminium windows belonging to Lapa Muritala, the complainant in the case. He added that the accused was subsequently apprehended and handed over to the police for prosecution.

The prosecutor said the offences violated Sections 409 and 287 of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.

Chief Magistrate Nurudeen Layeni granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000, with two sureties in like amount, noting that one of the sureties must be self-employed.

The matter was adjourned until September 24 for mention.
