A 28-year-old man, identified as Isah Adamu, was safely rescued from suspected kidnappers during a coordinated operation by the Adamawa State Police Command and local hunters. The rescue occurred on Monday in a mountainous area within Gombi Local Government Area, following credible intelligence received by the authorities.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday in Yola by Police Public Relations Officer SP Suleiman Nguroje, the security team, made up of officers from the Gombi Divisional Police Headquarters and professional hunters, launched the operation after learning the location of the kidnappers’ hideout.
Upon arrival, the suspects reportedly opened fire on the security team, triggering a gunfight. However, the kidnappers eventually fled, overwhelmed by the superior firepower of the operatives, and left the victim behind unharmed.
The Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, CP Dankombo Morris, praised the swift and effective response of the team and reiterated the command’s dedication to protecting lives and property in the state. He further directed the Anti-Kidnapping Unit to take over the case and conduct a thorough investigation to track down the fleeing suspects.
Authorities have assured the public that the manhunt for the kidnappers continues, and all necessary efforts are being made to bring them to justice.
