Minister of Power, Mr. Adebayo Adelabu, has extended his condolences to gospel singer and media entrepreneur, Dr. Yinka Ayefele, following the recent fire outbreak at his radio station, Fresh FM, located in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The message of sympathy was conveyed through a statement released in Abuja on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Strategic Communications and Media Relations, Mr. Bolaji Tunji.
Describing the incident as both “tragic and unfortunate,” Adelabu said he was deeply disturbed by the news of the fire that ravaged the premises of Fresh FM 105.9—an influential broadcasting station in the Southwest.
He praised the station’s longstanding contribution to quality media, saying, “Fresh FM has been instrumental in shaping public discourse, providing entertainment, and promoting public awareness not just in Oyo State, but across Nigeria.”
“I offer my sincere sympathies to Dr. Ayefele, the staff and management of Fresh FM, and the entire Oyo community affected by this unfortunate event,” he added.
Adelabu, a regular listener of the station, emphasized the importance of strict adherence to electrical safety protocols, especially in the wake of such disasters.
“As Minister of Power, this incident further reinforces the need for routine checks on electrical installations and compliance with safety standards to mitigate fire hazards,” he noted.
He also lauded the prompt response of the Oyo State Fire Service and other emergency responders, as well as the surrounding community for their quick action in containing the blaze.
“Their bravery and swift intervention demonstrate the value of strong emergency response systems and community solidarity,” Adelabu remarked.
He concluded by reaffirming his support for Ayefele and the Fresh FM team during this challenging period.
