Audu Ogbeh’s Passing a Great Loss to Nigeria — Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu has mourned the death of Chief Audu Ogbeh, former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), describing him as a devoted patriot who served Nigeria with distinction.

Ogbeh, aged 78, passed away peacefully on Saturday, according to a statement issued by his family.

In a condolence message released by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the president commiserated with the government and people of Benue State, as well as with Ogbeh’s family, friends, and political allies.

Over the course of his career, Ogbeh held several public offices, including Minister of Communications during the Second Republic and Minister of Agriculture under the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Tinubu lauded Ogbeh’s exceptional intellect and his knack for providing practical solutions to national challenges. He recalled that Ogbeh’s political journey began in the 1970s as a legislator and that he was among the founding members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“Chief Audu Ogbeh was a statesman whose wisdom, commitment, and vision for progress left a lasting imprint on Nigeria’s political history. He was always equipped with facts and figures to back his views. The nation will greatly miss his depth of insight and vast experience,” the president said.

Tinubu prayed for God’s comfort upon the bereaved family and for the peaceful repose of Ogbeh’s soul.
