WAEC Reports System Errors Following Results Announcement

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has disclosed that it identified technical issues during its internal review of the recently released 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results for school candidates.

In a press release signed by the Acting Head of Public Affairs, Moyosola Adesina, WAEC stated that its internal post-release procedures revealed some technical bugs affecting a number of results.

“As part of efforts to curb examination malpractice, the Council introduced an innovation paper serialisation in line with global best practices in assessment,” the statement said.

The serialisation was applied to key subjects including Mathematics, English Language, Biology, and Economics. However, WAEC noted that the new system resulted in unforeseen technical glitches in the published results.

The Council assured stakeholders that it has commenced a thorough review and correction process to address the issue.

“As a result, access to the WASSCE for School Candidates 2025 results has been temporarily suspended on the results checker portal,” WAEC announced.

WAEC apologised to the affected candidates and the general public for the inconvenience and advised candidates to recheck their results within the next 24 hours, by which time the issues are expected to be rectified.
