Customs Pledge to Eliminate Persistent Smuggling in Ogun

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Ogun 1 Area Command in Idiroko, has reiterated its determination to flush out persistent smugglers undermining the country’s economy through illegal trade activities.

The Area Comptroller, Olukayode Afeni, stated this during an interview in Idiroko on Wednesday, noting that the command, in collaboration with other security agencies, is working to dismantle supply chains and routes used for smuggling prohibited goods into the country.

He warned individuals involved in the illicit trade to desist immediately, stressing that officers have been strategically positioned across key areas to curb smuggling operations.

Afeni urged traders to embrace lawful business practices instead of engaging in activities that violate trade regulations, adding that such illegal dealings pose risks to both the economy and national security.

He further maintained that the command remains firmly committed to sustaining enforcement efforts and will not tolerate actions capable of weakening the nation’s economic stability.
