Delta Local Government Commences Payment of N50,000 Student Bursary

In Asaba, the Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State has commenced payment of bursaries to students as part of its educational support programme.

A total of 430 students from the area are benefiting from the initiative, with each successful applicant receiving N50,000 directly through an online disbursement process.

The council chairman, Mr Jerry Ehiwarior, explained that the scheme reflects his administration’s focus on education, youth empowerment and the development of human capital within the local government.

He noted that the bursary initiative, implemented under the Ika South Students Bursary Scheme, is intended to assist undergraduates and help them stay committed to their academic goals.

According to him, “education is a vital foundation for growth and national development,” adding that the council would continue to introduce programmes aimed at empowering young people and creating opportunities for them to thrive.

He further stated that the financial support is designed to ease the burden on students and their families while also promoting academic excellence across the area.

Ehiwarior congratulated all the beneficiaries and encouraged them to remain dedicated to their studies, stressing that their education would equip them for future leadership and meaningful contributions to society.

He reaffirmed that investing in education remains a central priority of his administration as it works toward building a more productive and enlightened generation.
