Third Estate restates pledge to support Ilorin Emirate development

Ilorin — The Third Estate, a socio-cultural group made up of prominent indigenes of the Ilorin Emirate in Kwara State, has restated its commitment to advancing the development of the emirate across key sectors of society.

The President of the association, Malam Ahmed Ladan-Gobir, made this known during the group’s 2026 Eid-el-Kabir get-together held on Thursday in Ilorin.

He said the association remained focused on strengthening unity, peace, and mutual love among indigenes, while also promoting and preserving the cultural heritage, traditions, and values of the emirate.

According to him, the annual gathering serves as a platform for members, stakeholders, and associates to deepen bonds, assess progress made, and reaffirm commitment to the organisation’s goals and vision.

Ladan-Gobir highlighted several achievements recorded within the year under review, particularly in healthcare delivery, education support, youth empowerment, and spiritual development.

He pointed to the group’s medical outreach held in December 2025 at the Aisha Buhari Mother and Child Hospital, Eiyenkorin, Ilorin, where residents benefited from free eye care services and corrective eyewear.

He also noted that the association awarded scholarships and supported two indigent students of the University of Ilorin from within the emirate, as part of its efforts to encourage academic excellence and uplift less-privileged youths.

The president commended members of the executive committee, partners, and supporters for their contributions, both financial and moral, which he said made the association’s programmes successful.

He expressed optimism that the group would expand its impact in 2027 and beyond through more community-focused initiatives.

In his remarks, Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, applauded the association for complementing government efforts across different sectors through its interventions and programmes.

The governor pledged continued support for the group in its efforts to promote the culture and heritage of the Ilorin Emirate.

He also urged members—drawn from various fields including academia, public service, and business—to sustain their contributions toward the development of the emirate and Kwara State at large.

The 25th edition of the association’s annual get-together attracted several notable personalities from different walks of life.
