Eid-el-Kabir: Labour Party urges leaders, citizens to embrace responsibility and unity

The Labour Party has urged political leaders across all levels of government to uphold principles of justice, fairness, equity and compassion, drawing lessons from the values associated with Islam.

This message was contained in a statement released on Wednesday in Abuja by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ken Asogwa, as it extended Eid-el-Kabir greetings to Nigerians.

The party stressed that those in authority must put national interest above personal gains and take deliberate steps to reduce the hardship faced by citizens.

It described the current period as a critical moment for leadership to demonstrate sincerity in addressing the economic struggles affecting many households in the country.

The Labour Party also expressed concern over worsening economic conditions, insecurity, hunger, and rising social and ethnic tensions nationwide.

According to the statement, the ideals of sacrifice, humility, and selflessness associated with Eid-el-Kabir are essential for building a more stable and united nation.

It encouraged Nigerians to reflect on the significance of the festival by promoting compassion, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence among people of different backgrounds.

The party further explained that Eid-el-Kabir represents obedience, faith, sacrifice, and submission to the will of Almighty Allah.

It added that the season should go beyond celebration, serving instead as a time for reflection, renewed faith, and greater commitment to humanity and national development.

Nigerians were also urged to extend kindness and support to vulnerable members of society, particularly those facing economic difficulties.

The Labour Party prayed for peace, progress, and divine guidance for the country, wishing Muslims and all citizens a peaceful Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
