The Osun State Police Command has announced heightened security arrangements across the state ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations, assuring residents of a safe and peaceful festive period.
The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan, stated this in a release issued in Osogbo, noting that the command has deployed personnel strategically to maintain law and order before, during and after the festivities.
He explained that security operatives have been stationed at major entry and exit points to prevent the movement of suspected criminal elements into the state.
According to him, additional officers have also been deployed to highways, worship centres, recreational facilities, motor parks and other public locations to ensure adequate security coverage.
Gotan urged residents to cooperate with security personnel and confirmed that officers have been instructed to remain professional, courteous and respectful of citizens’ rights while carrying out their duties.
He also advised the public to observe lawful conduct throughout the celebration period and avoid actions capable of disturbing public peace.
The police commissioner further encouraged residents to report any suspicious activity or emergencies through the designated hotline or by visiting the nearest police station.
He added that the command remains fully committed to ensuring a peaceful and incident-free Eid celebration across Osun State.
