The Nigerian Army says its troops have killed two suspected terrorists, rescued four kidnapped passengers and disrupted an attempted attack on a crude oil pipeline during coordinated operations in Taraba, Kogi and Rivers States within the last 24 hours.
This was contained in operational feedback made available on Tuesday in Abuja.
In Taraba State, troops of 93 Battalion deployed at Akate in Donga Local Government Area reportedly engaged armed suspects in a forest hideout, killing two of them during the encounter.
Items recovered from the scene included an AK-47 rifle, ammunition, magazines, mobile phones and other personal belongings.
In Kogi State, troops of 21 Battalion, working alongside local vigilantes, rescued four abducted passengers along the Anyigba–Itobe road in Ofu Local Government Area.
The victims were said to have been abandoned by their captors as troops intensified pressure on the kidnappers while they attempted to cross a stream.
The military added that operations are ongoing to secure the release of other persons still in captivity.
In a separate development, troops of 12 Brigade reportedly repelled an ambush along the Kabba–Okene highway while returning from an earlier mission, forcing the attackers to escape with gunshot injuries.
In Rivers State, troops of 5 Battalion, acting on intelligence, foiled an attempt by suspected vandals to detonate a crude oil pipeline in Ahoada West Local Government Area.
The swift intervention disrupted the planned sabotage, with the suspects fleeing the area before completing the attack.
The Army said the series of operations reflect sustained efforts to curb insecurity and protect critical national infrastructure across the country.
