Kano, May 26, 2026

The Kano State Government has approved a N20,000 Eid-el-Kabir welfare package for civil servants across the state and its 44 local government areas.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday in Kano by Musa Tanko-Muhammad, Press Secretary to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government.

According to the statement, the gesture is intended to assist workers in preparing for and celebrating the Eid-el-Kabir festival.

It noted that the payment follows closely after the disbursement of May salaries to both state and local government employees.

The support covers civil servants from Grade Levels 01 to 14 serving in ministries, departments and agencies, as well as local government councils in the state.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf was quoted as saying that the initiative reflects his administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of workers, whom he described as a key pillar of the public service.

He explained that the decision was influenced by current economic conditions and the additional financial pressures associated with festive celebrations.

According to him, the package is designed to help workers celebrate Eid with greater ease and spend quality time with their families.

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s determination to sustain policies that prioritise workers’ welfare, enhance productivity and strengthen public service delivery.

He also extended Eid-el-Kabir greetings to civil servants and residents of Kano State, praying for continued peace, unity and prosperity in the state and across the country.
