Brazil to Host Meeting of BRICS Finance Ministers, Central Bank Heads on Tuesday

A meeting of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa’s (BRICS) finance ministers and central bank governors will take place on Tuesday in the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo.

The gathering will take place on the sidelines of the G20 ministerial meeting.

This will be the first face-to-face meeting of the BRICS financial track with the participation of the new members of the association since Jan. 1, 2024.

The meeting will be chaired by Russia.

The attendees are expected to discuss a wide range of issues, including the prospects for the development of the world economy and the state of the economies of the bloc’s countries.

Other issues for discussion at the meeting are the instruments for mixed financing of infrastructure projects, customs, and tax cooperation, as well as the launch of the BRICS Think Tank Network for Finance.

Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov will attend the meeting.

The minister is expected to present an initiative for the improvement of the international monetary and financial system.
