The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has sealed off all branches of Inner Galaxy Steel Company and Jiuxing Integrity Industrial Ltd over allegations linked to financing terrorism and large-scale involvement in infrastructure-related crimes in Nigeria.
This was disclosed in a statement issued in Abuja by the Corps Public Relations Officer, Babatunde Afolabi.
Afolabi said the action followed a court order obtained by the corps, with the companies facing allegations including conspiracy to commit felony, theft and destruction of railway infrastructure, as well as concealment of stolen property.
He explained that operatives of the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad carried out a raid on one of the company’s facilities in Birnin Yero, Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State, where vandalised government assets were reportedly recovered.
According to him, some arrested workers confessed that there was a coordinated network used to transport stolen national infrastructure materials to the company’s facilities in Aba and other locations, where they were melted and converted into commercial products such as nails and roofing sheets.
The spokesperson added that the companies, reportedly owned by Chinese nationals, had been invited for questioning but failed to honour official summons.
He noted that the Commandant General, Ahmed Audi, has ordered that anyone found culpable in the case should be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
Audi also directed the head of the CG’s Special Intelligence Squad, Appollos Dandaura, to ensure professionalism, thoroughness and strict adherence to due process throughout the investigation and enforcement operations.
The NSCDC leadership commended the judiciary for granting timely approval that enabled the agency to carry out its mandate effectively.
It also urged members of the public to continue supporting security agencies by providing credible information to help curb vandalism and the theft of critical national infrastructure across the country.
The statement was issued as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen protection of national assets and ensure accountability in the sector.
