The Deputy Governor of Niger State, Mr Yakubu Garba, has urged security and judicial authorities to ensure the swift prosecution of those responsible for the killing of the President of the Minna Emirate Youth Association, Jaafar Dabawu.
The appeal was contained in a statement issued in Minna on Friday by his Press Secretary, Ummikhaltume Kuta, while he extended condolences to the bereaved family.
Dabawu was reportedly attacked and killed at his residence around 3:30 a.m. on Thursday by unidentified assailants, according to reports.
Describing the incident as shocking and deeply painful, Garba said the loss was a devastating blow not only to the family but also to the wider community.
He prayed for the repose of the deceased’s soul and asked God to grant his family the strength to cope with the tragedy.
The deputy governor also appealed to residents to remain calm and law-abiding as security agencies continue investigations into the killing.
He reiterated the state government’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
Garba further stated that the administration of Governor Umaru Bago would continue to support security agencies to ensure those behind the attack are apprehended and prosecuted, while working to prevent similar incidents in the future.
