NOA Promises Partnership With FIDA to Expand Pro Bono Legal Services in Kogi

The National Orientation Agency in Kogi State has expressed its willingness to work closely with the International Federation of Women Lawyers to expand access to free legal services for residents across the state.

The State Director of NOA, Mrs Aileku Ayedime, made this known during a stakeholders’ consultation meeting involving female judicial officers held in Lokoja.

She explained that the proposed partnership would help facilitate the creation of moot courts where citizens could receive legal guidance and support at no cost.

According to her, such collaboration would improve access to justice, particularly for vulnerable individuals who may not be able to afford legal representation.

Ayedime also disclosed that the agency has already established gender desks in its offices across the state to assist individuals seeking help on legal and judicial-related issues.

She noted that the agency’s National Values Charter promotes principles such as human rights, justice, fairness, equality, and equal opportunities for all citizens.

The NOA director further emphasised the importance of including Persons Living with Disabilities in national development efforts, stressing that many still experience discrimination and exclusion in society.

She reiterated the agency’s determination to support initiatives and partnerships that advance justice, equity, and social inclusion.

During the meeting, Ayedime also presented copies of the National Anthem to the Chairperson of FIDA in Kogi, Mrs Oluwakemi Usman, as part of efforts to deepen cooperation between both organisations.

The engagement highlighted the growing commitment of stakeholders in the state to improving access to legal support and promoting equal rights for all members of society.
