Minna, May 18, 2026 The Niger State Government has concluded the airlift of 2,281 intending pilgrims participating in the 2026 Hajj exercise to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday by the Director of Information and Public Relations in the Ministry of Information and Orientation, Mallam Yunusa Saidu-Ibrahim.
According to the statement, the pilgrims were airlifted from the Bola Tinubu International Airport in Minna after being drawn from all 25 local government areas of the state.
The transportation exercise was carried out in six scheduled flights, coordinated by the Niger State Pilgrims Welfare Board in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago described the successful completion of the airlift as a product of effective collaboration, strong commitment and efficient coordination among government agencies and partners involved in the operation.
He also commended the 2026 Amirul Hajj and Emir of Agaie, Alhaji Yusuf Nuhu, for providing leadership and guidance throughout the process.
The state government further appreciated the efforts of security agencies, medical personnel, airline operators, travel agencies and airport officials for ensuring a smooth and orderly operation without disruptions.
Officials said the successful exercise reflects the state’s preparedness and commitment to ensuring a seamless pilgrimage process for its citizens.
