Bago Orders Urgent Repairs of Windstorm-Damaged Buildings at Paiko NYSC Camp

Governor Mohammed Umaru-Bago of Niger State has directed the swift rehabilitation of structures damaged by a recent windstorm at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Paiko, located in Paikoro Local Government Area.

The directive was conveyed in a statement released in Minna by his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim.

The governor described the damage as distressing, noting that it disrupted activities and created discomfort for both corps members and camp officials.

He stressed that prompt repairs would restore normalcy and ensure the orientation programme continues without further disruption.

Umaru-Bago also praised a joint assessment team made up of state officials, the NYSC Director-General, Brig.-Gen. Olakunle Oluseye Nafiu, and the state coordinator, Mrs. Martina Shuaibu-Ibrahim, for their quick response in arranging temporary learning spaces at a nearby secondary school.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the safety and welfare of corps members deployed to the state.

Structures affected by the storm include hostels for male corps members, the multipurpose hall, kitchen facilities, staff quarters, and parts of the state coordinator’s residence.

Fortunately, no injuries or loss of life were reported after the incident.
