A 40-year-old woman, Isoken Idunueko, has been arraigned before an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan over allegations of retaining money wrongly transferred into her bank account.
Idunueko, who resides in the Elebu area of Ibadan, is facing a charge of theft. She pleaded not guilty when the charge was read to her.
The prosecution, led by ASP Foluke Adedosu, told the court that the incident occurred in February around the Oke-Itunu area of Mokola, where the sum of N2,040 was mistakenly credited to the defendant’s Zenith Bank account.
According to the prosecutor, the complainant, Sandra Okwueze, contacted the defendant after discovering the error, but the funds were allegedly not returned.
Adedosu stated that the alleged offence contravenes Section 383 and is punishable under Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The presiding magistrate, A.T. Oyediji, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum. She further ruled that one of the sureties must own a landed property and reside in it.
The case was adjourned until June 2 for further hearing.
