Delivery Agent Arraigned in Lagos Over Alleged Theft of Nine iPhones

A 22-year-old delivery agent, Samuel Uchenna, was on Friday arraigned before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos over the alleged theft of nine iPhones valued at N9 million.

Uchenna, who resides in the Baruwa area of Ipaja, is facing charges of conspiracy and stealing. He pleaded not guilty to the allegations.

The prosecutor, ASP Adegoke Ademigbuji, told the court that the incident occurred on February 19 in Ikeja. He explained that the complainant, Henry Emordi, had entrusted the defendant with nine iPhones for delivery to a designated recipient, but the items were not delivered.

According to the prosecution, the defendant later claimed that he had been robbed while attempting to carry out the delivery.

The alleged offences are said to contravene Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

In her ruling, the Chief Magistrate, Omolara Kushanu, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N1 million, with two sureties in like amount.

The case was subsequently adjourned until April 29 for further proceedings.
