Lagos, April 14, 2026 — The Lagos Waste Management Authority has entered into a partnership with a youth-focused organisation, EKO 57 Support Group, aimed at engaging young people across Lagos State to drive better sanitation practices and encourage responsible waste disposal at community level.
According to the Managing Director of LAWMA, Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, the collaboration was initiated during a meeting with the group’s leadership, which included social media personality Adams Kehinde, popularly known as Lege Miami, and actress Remilekun Oshodi, also known as Remi Surutu.
He explained that the initiative would widen LAWMA’s public enlightenment campaigns across all 20 local government areas and 37 local council development areas in Lagos State, ensuring stronger grassroots reach.
Gbadegesin also noted that the agency remains one of the key employers of labour in the state, engaging more than 100,000 young people across different aspects of its operations, stressing that their involvement is vital to improving environmental services.
He added that young residents are expected to play a central role in promoting environmental responsibility and influencing positive behavioural change within their communities.
He further stated that the agency continues to collaborate with community leaders, development associations, and local committees to improve compliance with sanitation regulations and resolve waste management challenges.
Representatives of the EKO 57 Support Group, Adams Kehinde and Remilekun Oshodi, praised LAWMA for embracing partnership and emphasised that maintaining a clean Lagos requires shared commitment, especially from the youth.
The collaboration is expected to deepen environmental awareness efforts and strengthen community participation in maintaining a cleaner and healthier Lagos State.
