Man Arraigned in Ibadan for Alleged Theft of N200,000 iPhone

The Nigeria Police Force on Monday arraigned a 46-year-old man, Babatunde Rabiu, before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan for allegedly stealing a woman’s phone.

Rabiu, whose address was not provided, was charged with theft. He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The prosecutor, Elisha Tellang, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on March 7 at about 8:00 a.m. at Jubali Company in the Idi-Ayunre area of Ibadan.

Tellang alleged that Rabiu stole one iPhone XR with a SIM card valued at N200,000, belonging to Esther Rufai.

He said the defendant took the phone without Rufai’s consent, thereby committing an offence contrary to Section 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The Magistrate, Oluwaferanmi Raji, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case until April 7 for hearing.
