Salah Ends Goal Drought as Wolves Shock Liverpool 2-1

Mohamed Salah ended his 10-game Premier League goal drought, but Liverpool F.C. suffered a 2-1 defeat to bottom side Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C. at Molineux on Tuesday.

The result dealt a setback to Liverpool’s hopes of securing qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League. The defending champions remain fifth on the table with 48 points from 29 matches.

Wolves, meanwhile, continued their recent resurgence under manager Rob Edwards. Late goals from Rodrigo Gomes and Andre, either side of Salah’s strike, turned a largely uneventful contest into a dramatic finale in the closing 15 minutes.

The victory marked Wolves’ second consecutive win over a top-five side, following their weekend triumph over Aston Villa. Their improved performances have boosted morale despite their position near the foot of the table.

Liverpool’s loss was their ninth league defeat of the campaign, and a win for Chelsea F.C. against Aston Villa F.C. on Wednesday could see them drop to sixth place.

The two sides are set to meet again at Molineux on Friday in their FA Cup fifth-round clash.
